North Texas Children's Ballet Company is first and foremost a family oriented studio. I strongly believe in the benefits of dance. Most talk about the discipline, self-confidence, and physical fitness children acquire through ballet. Not only can I personally attest to each of these things (my dad always says the day I began training in the RAD program I became a straight A student and they never had to discipline me at home again), but I believe it goes further than that.
In today's world, the biggest benefit is that the child can have a place without intruding media (even texting!) where everyone is on equal playing ground. In the studio, friendships are not built on clothes, toys, popularity, boys, or other frivolous or materialistic things. Deep friendships are formed based solely on the common enjoyment of dance, and peers are respected for their focus, work-ethic and abilities.
One of the downsides of the dance world today is the over sexualization of young children. I believe in teaching a child respect for their bodies. Our focus is on technique, musicality and performance, not on weight or physical "beauty."
At Children's Ballet Company of North Texas, music and costumes will ALWAYS be modest and age appropriate, and there will never be classes, rehearsals, or performances held on Sundays.
I believe it is our job to first, support the family in bringing up a successful child, second cultivate each child's individual passion and talent, and third provide a strong technical background to ensure each child's success as a dancer.
